Weddings at Broadmoor Community Church, UCC
If you would prefer that we send you a copy of this document by email, contact info@broadmoorchurch.org
A wedding is the happy occasion when two people unite in the mutual exchange of promises. The wedding ceremony is a service of worship, celebrating the couple’s relationship and faith, and the love of God. The congregation of Broadmoor UCC affirms every wedding held here and extends thanksgiving and support for you, the couple, as you begin your married life together.
RESERVING YOUR WEDDING DATE
Your wedding date and time can be reserved with the office. In order to secure your date, return a completed wedding reservation form (button above) to the church with a $200 deposit. If the reservation form and deposit are not received within two weeks of your reserving a date, your wedding will be removed from the church calendar. This allows for wedding reservations to be handled in a timely manner.
PRE-WEDDING APPOINTMENTS
Once you have scheduled your wedding date, please contact the office at (719) 473-1807 as early as possible (at least two months prior to your wedding) to set up the first of three pre-wedding appointments with the officiating pastor. These appointments, one hour in length, begin with an initial interview, pre-marriage questions, and are followed by details of your wedding ceremony.
OFFICIANT
The Senior Pastor of Broadmoor Church or designate will officiate at all weddings held at the church.
WEDDING COORDINATOR
A Wedding Coordinator, who works with the Senior Pastor to oversee details of the wedding ceremony, will be assigned. If a couple uses an outside Wedding Planner, that planner may be present but may not preside at the rehearsal or wedding ceremony.
MUSIC
After meeting with the officiating pastor, please contact the Minister of Music, (719) 473-1807 as soon as possible to discuss the music for your ceremony. The Minister of Music is responsible for the music played at weddings and needs to approve any decisions made regarding music. The music for your wedding should be live- not recorded- and sacred or classical in nature and theme.
PHOTOGRAPHY
No flash photography, is allowed during the ceremony. Flash photographs are permitted as the bridal party enters and leaves. After the ceremony, photographs are freely permitted. The officiating pastor will be available for up to fifteen minutes following the ceremony.
FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS
Floral arrangements should be in place at least one hour before the scheduled time of the wedding. No tacks, tape or wire may be used on the chancel table or on the pews.
CANDLES
It is recommended that dripless candles be purchased for the ceremony. Care must be taken to avoid spilling liquid wax on the carpet or floors when placing or removing candles. Additional clean-up fees may be applied if wax is spilled.
AISLE RUNNERS, RICE, etc.
Aisle runners are not permitted. Neither may rice, birdseed, confetti, or streamers be used. A flower girl may scatter petals (silk is preferred for the sanctuary and real petals for the Glen). The couple is asked to make arrangements for having these cleaned up.
THE REHEARSAL
The building may be used for a period of one and a half hours for your rehearsal. It is important that the rehearsal begin on time. Please advise all those involved to be prompt.
THE WEDDING
The building may be used for a period of four hours for your wedding. The earliest the church is available is two and a half hours before the wedding start time. All flower deliveries, decorating and photographs must be done within this four hour time period. Weddings may not be scheduled after 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
