BCC's Statement to End Systemic Racism

When Black and Brown lives are systemically devalued by society, our outrage justifiably insists that attention be focused on Black and Brown lives.  When a church claims boldly "Black Lives Matter" at this moment, it chooses to show up intentionally against all given societal values of supremacy and superiority or common-sense complacency. By insisting on the intrinsic worth of all human beings, Jesus models for us how God loves justly, and how his disciples can love publicly in a world of inequality. We live out the love of God justly by publicly saying #BlackLivesMatter.

We need to continue to act with courage and commitment to end racial inequality. We are challenged to examine the ways racism is manifested within ourselves, our community, and confront it. We actively listen, challenge white fragility, and seek equality for all people. We stand in solidarity with the members of our community who routinely feel the weight of oppression, systemic racism, racial violence, and call for an equal justice system.

Exciting Faith Formation Opportunities for Students 6th - 12th Grade

Sunday Programming for Teens:  6th grade and up in our West Wing, Room 1. Fall through Spring.

Confirmation: for all 8-10th graders.

Mission Trips: Our youth participate in a range of service activities.

• Our Lord's Dinner: Teens help serve a hot meal to our neighbors every other month on the third Sunday. This takes place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Retreats in Spring and Fall, and Camp in the Summer: We participate in large retreats and camps with many other churches in the UCC Rocky Mountain Conference. These give youth a chance to reconnect with old friends and make new ones within the denomination, while learning to grow in their faith. Camps and retreats are hosted at LaForet in Black Forest.

We have various other opportunities throughout each year for fellowship, fun, and outreach. Give us a call or send an email to find out about upcoming activities for Youth! You can also follow Broadmoor Community Church, UCC on Facebook for updates and reminders.
